Where can you get these from? I'm thinking about fixing one to my bumper until I get my Garage Vary splitter as the JDM Offset is looking a little out of place at the minute.

Also, if anyone has a picture of one on a Mk1.. Google doesn't turn up alot.

http://craigsplates.com/shopping/index.php?route=p... usually are suggested?
I'm sure someone on PH will have a pic of their MK 1 with a vinyl plate.

I bought one of these ones from eBay and was very impressed.
Don't believe the blurb though, they are not legal and you will fail an MOT with one. (Anyone who doesn't purely has an 'understanding' examiner, I've queried it and seen the MOT bible! wink )
They are reflective though which means I can't really ever see you getting pulled by the old bill for it.

Like I've said elsewhere, the BIB don't care about them but in theory they are an MOT failure. I haven't found an MOT station yet that does fail them though as long as they are the correct size/font/spacing. Mine doesn't even have a manufacturer name/postcode and I've never had a problem! I keep the standard plate with sticky pads in the car for MOT and just tell them that if it's a problem I'll slap it on the bumper above the sticky plate but they never say I should in fact they usually seem amused that I even suggest it!

I made a few of these for guys on here a couple of years ago, in return for voluntary charity donations.

Might still have a bit of reflective vinyl kicking about if you get desperate.

After all those I made, I never did get around to doing one for myself. smile

Supposedly this sort of thing is being heavily cracked down upon and given it's so obvious to leave an MOT station with an incorrect number plate, I would imagine this is unlikely to continue.
The place I had mine done last time told me it wouldn't pass as it was and a tyre place mentioned it when I had my tyres fitted last month.
I just stuck my regular one on top of the stick-on one as I arrived and then took it off once it had passed.

I got mine from Craigsplates and had no MOT or BIB issues at all. If/when I get another Mk1 the sticky plate would be the first thing I would do.

Meh. Main dealers and big groups might frown on it but most independent garages are more likely to turn a blind eye to it. I haven't taken any of my cars to a main dealer or group for many years.

i had a car fail an MOT for the sidemounted number plate (it was slightly angled down to the floor) but never for the stick-on plate

I wonder if they are harder for ANPR to read? If so I don't suppose the BIB will continue to be so 'understanding'.... frown shame as I think it looks great, had one on my (old) Mini for years without a problem.

I saw a picture of a white car that just had the stick on letters and numbers, no background. Looked good, but with no reflective background a lot harder to get away with I suppose?
