I have a Eunos Mk2 fitted with the Bose sound system. Does anyone know if there's any way I can use the headphone-out on my smartphone to drive the stereo? As the radio works (crappily) but the CD player won't play a CD (it just spits them straight back out again), and so using my phone to play music through the stereo would be a real boon...

No. The only way to do this is use a band expander and an FM transmitter, which is a pretty crappy solution.

I binned the Bose radio in mine along with the door speakers and fitted some nice Pioneer ones, it's a far better option!

depends on the year. the newer radios (2002 and newer) have a connector on the bottom which you can use (with an adapter board) to connect an aux device.
I think I've seen where some people did similar with older bose systems, but im not familiar with the procedure used.
If your willing to cut some wires, it may be possible to wire in a aux port directly to the bose amp (have fun if you got wind blocker speakers, im not even gonna touch that), but I don't know how effective it would be to wire directly to the amp.

Did a bit of research, all bose systems for the miata can have an aux port added. maybe look around at some of the miata specific sites. google is your friend
