I've just bought a 2001 1.8i S which i got cheap as the rear arches are starting to go and the alloys are naff and badly pitted.

The wheels are aftermarket ones and are 17 inch.

I dont like them to start with, therefore rather than refurb them, i thought i'd get a new set and use the tyres that came with them.

I'm currently thinking spoked rims in anthracite like these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-MX5-98-2005-Wheels-17-...

But I'm not convinced they'd suit and would they alienate the car to potential buyers? (i never keep a car long)

Or can someone recommend something that would look better - the car is silver btw.

17's are a bit big for the '5 though! 15's look fine and don't affect the handling...

Mk1 maybe. Mk2 is fine on 17s.

Car looks very tidy. New wheels look good too - what are they?

p.s. That's a 1.8i, there is no 1.8iS from 2001, just a 1.6i, 1.8i and a 1.8i Sport (otherwise known as S-VT) and a lot of special editions smile

Just got the paperwork back after taxing it - its 1.8 S-VT.
