Suspension help needed
Discussion
I've been trying to fit new Spax suspension to my 1.8 mk1 today but have hit a problem.
When trying to fit the bump stops there is a washer/collar at the top of the shock shaft (but beneath the thread) that is too wide (by about 2mm) to fit the bump stops over.
This washer is loose and supplied by Spax so assume they have provided the wrong part. When I fit the new bump stop to the old OEM shock it goes over the washer (which is a fixed part on the OEM) without a problem.
Has anyone found this problem when replacing suspension before? I remember reading some people needing to drill the bump stops if adjustables were being fitted, but cannot find these threads again.
Cheers,
Mike

I have just fitted a full set of Koni sports set up units for a local owner, which i needed to drill the new OE bump stops/dust boots and OE top mounts to fit and build them up for fitting to the roadster, there was also a plastic washer in the kit that sat on top of the bump stop and then the top mount sat on top of that??sounds like you have the same problem just with a different make of units??
Hope this helps?
