re buying a new hood
Discussion
Take a peek on the owners forum, they have a list of hood suppliers, Cannot comment on vinyl vs mohair as I stuck with vinyl, but mohair does look much better so if you have the money, go for it!

I recently fitted one of these to my car

This was a DIY fit job, if thats a bit scary for you, I did also consider these people

They operate in Cheshire but also London/M25. The chap had good references etc etc.
Now, Mohair vs PVC. Mohair does look better when new, but I think after a year or two there isn't much to choose between the two. What put me off a mohair, wasn't so much the cost, but I was worried that if the fit isn't 100% perfect, this could be far more of a problem with mohair, since the vinyl ones have a bit more give in them. My fears might have been unfounded, but I wanted the path of least risk, really.
AS for cost, well considering MX5 prices seem to be flat on their a$$se right now, I guess it does make sense to try and keep a lid on how much cash one puts into the thing.

I've recently treated my vinyl roof with some Autoglym vinyl and rubber stuff and it's come up fantastically well for a 13 year old roof, having been quite faded. Fade wouldn't be a concern IMO.
