I've seen Mintex pads being recommended for fast road use, but people have also said they're very expensive.. If these are the pads, camskills are selling fronts for £15 and they're on eBay for £22.

What are these like, I need a new set of front pads?

What's wrong with Mazda OEM ones? They're up to track use so more than good enough for fast road.

I can easily cook OEM pads on track, so I completely disagree with you.

mintex M1144 compound are up to fast road / track use.
look up MDB1413M1144 at camskill.

those ones for £20 will be OEM spec and not good for track.

Well I've just done Byton and Cadwell and had no problems with Mazda pads. Perhaps I drive slow smile

The OEM are meant to be great pads, but compared to some of (supposedly good) Mintex pads they're quite expensive.

That's true, around £60 for fronts IIRC. Don't seem to put out much dust though though my wheels are black so perhaps I don't notice it.

I haven't found any OEM spec pads that are as good as OEM pads. While I wouldn't say they can cope with track days (not on my car anyway) they can handle some light track work and are well up to fast road use, last well and don't dust much.

Are you cooking the pads, or the fluid?

OT but how did you find Blyton?

And if you answer 'by looking on a map' I shall not be impressed biggrin

A satnav sends you wrong apparently smile
I enjoyed it. Well suited to an MX, quite narrow in parts but with plenty of runoff, either old tarmac or grass and only one section of armco so a good place to learn all about a new car in safety. The surface is good, smooth, new tarmac. It lacks a little in facilities. There were only 12 cars on the day I was there so it wasn't deemed cost-effective to have a catering van. I had brought plenty to eat and drink but if you hadn't it would have been a pain. Other than that though, a thumbs-up. I'll go back especially as it's only an hour from me. With Cadwell 30 mins the other way I doubt I'll bother going anywhere else!
I've just bought another track car so I think a day at Blyton to explore what it'll do will be my next track day.

Thanks smile

I'm in the same boat, 30 mins from both Cadwell and Blyton, having yet to sample both!

How much was the session at Blyton?

£129 I think, with Javelin Trackdays. Extra driver £25 and a passenger £10. About average I think. Give me a shout if you go to either Blyton and Cadwell.
I take it you're at Coningsby. Do you know Al of old Triumph fame?

Finishline can get Mintex pads for good prices, there's a thread on Nutz about it but as a guide:

Definitely the pads, they were obliterated.
