Other will be able to confirm, but IIRC the mk1 and mk2 brakes are pretty much identical. On that basis - you might want to have a read of my thread here:

I used to use ramps with blocks of wood as axle stands. Nothing wrong with it as long as you are using the wood to spread the load.
