Does anyone know if you can get a ski rack (for cross country skis) to put on the hardtop (of a Mk2)? I have found an attachment that will fit on the luggage rack on the boot, but I don't have a luggage rack and would prefer not to pay for one just to transport the skis. I can just fit my skis in with the hardtop on, it's for when I have a passanger with skis that are bigger, and to save a bit of space.

If I had 2 people with snowboards in my mk1 I used to have them across the rear deck with the roof down. It worked a treat.

That's what I did last year. The problem is when going on longer trips (planning on going down to Oppdal for a few days) when I will need the hardtop for stopping snow getting into the car. With the possibility of -20C it's a bit colder than the recommended 5C or so that you should stop moving the roof. It is fun though having the roof down in those temperatures though, especially when you need to ask someone to help push you out of the snow and you can see they clearly think you're a bit mad to have the roof down.

Why not saw the skis in half, then glue them together when you reach your resort?

Sorry, it was a (bad) joke saying that I had done the cutting the skis in half as suggested. getmecoat Not done it yet, I'm off to Oslo at the weekend so won't have much time to check this weekend.
