MK1 heated rear screen?

Hi, I am lucky to have a MK2 mohair roof on my MK1 which has heater element in it. The problem is there is nowhere to plug it into and there is no button on the dash. Did any MK1s have one so the wiring would(hopefully) be there or would I have to add the wiring?

It is a 91 Eunos.

FWIW, my MK1 has a rear screen heater switch on the dash which appears to do sweet f*ck all. Standard roof and stuff, have no idea why it was fitted by the previous owner as no wires appear to be connected either! Sorry, I know that wasn't much help to you

Do you have a glass rear screen?

There may be a heater connection on the Mk1 intended for a hardtop. Look behind the passenger seat on the rear deck. If it's all connected then check for a blown fuse.

Sorry, a quick check on miata.net would suggest that pre 92 cars don't have rear defrost in the wiring harness so this looks like something you may have to add yourself.

Nope! The only thing I could think of is that once upon a time somebody had a hardtop fitted then removed all the evidence.

I think my car (92 Eunos) has the same rear screen, it has two wires coming off the heating element but they're not connected to anything.

I wonder if it's a big job to connect it up..
