How long does it take you to wash and clean your MX5/Eunos?
Discussion
Took me 5 hours and 30 minutes today. That includes a wash, polish, drainage channel check, tyre pressures, interior dust and roof clean with the special shampoo/conditioner.
How long does everyone else take?
For such a small car I spend more time on it than anything else I have ever owned...

When we were filling the Panda today there was some (tall, bald, powefully built and had a goatee (ok he didn't have a goatee but he was tall, bald and powerfully built)) bloke washing his nicely modified mk1 mx5. If it is anyone from here Mr Audi looked annoyed that you were taking so long
Anyway it was black, with (I think) a laguna front spliter and some nice multispoke wheels.

Jetwash from a distance to dampen the dust and dirt and from closer to get muck out of wheelarches. Then home while it is all still damp for two bucket soapy wash then rinse then Autoglym Aqua Polish stuff when leathering off with microfibre cloth. Haven't done inside yet apart from wiping the dash with a auto type wet wipe thingy. I did do all the windows thoroughly not that long ago.
A good 2 hours every week. Mine is bright red, sorry "true red" ??!! and it looks particularly crap when its dirty. If you've got a bright colour car best to keep it looking bright. I Use a diesel/electric jet wash with warm water and carnauba wax applier to finish. A very shiny car when complete....!

I've developed a bit of a detailing habit over the past couple of years, time consuming but the car does look good afterwards
Most normal washes take about 30mins, a simple foam followed by shampoo and mitt, I normally do the wheels and re-blacken the tyres as well.
I'd say I glaze/polish and wax the car 4 times a year, not massively bothered about 'protection' but I do like the freshly waxed look.

But I do appreciate a dirty car as much as a clean one

Now that really looks good in black!
Running the MX5Parts DRLs but spent more on having them painted in two pack (satin black) and then picked out the fog recesses in satin silver to match the roll over hoops. Added the chrome side blades for a bit of chintz or should I say bling these days. They do look very factory and whilst I know not everyone wants their 5 looking like a council estate house at Christmas I think it brightens the front end up no end.
The car was sitting on Eibach springs at the time of the image above but they were actually too low - Wheels in Motion (AKA Black boots) took them off as they were made incorrect by the factory and replaced them with a new pair, now sitting some 20mm higher. Still looks good and much lower than the 4x4 look out of the Mazda factory.
DRLs after painting:

Car now sitting on new springs fitted by Black Boots:

Also fitted some better looking rear tail pipes too:

The rear valance shown above is the optional Mazda sport option, again from MX5Parts.
And one rather OTT jet wash!
