Anybody know of any decent outdoor car covers ?

Looking for a decent full outdoor winter cover and would prefer straps for underneath, rather than the draw string....or one with both. Any ideas ?

Given what the last few winters have been like where I live, I went the whole hog and bought a "Monsoon Cover" from mx5parts.com . Had almost one solid week of frosty nights and numerous downpours since I bought it last month and I'd recommend it. Need to be very careful however, as the '5s paint is very soft and if the cover gets dirty on the inside you'll be busy with the T-Cut!

A couple of pics of how it fits on mines;

Haven't actually used the undercar clips as it's not really been too windy yet, but providing you don't mind laying on your back under the bumpers trying to fasten them, they will fit and hold it very well. thumbup

I too was looking at that cover but there's a lot of negative reviews on the mx5parts site suggesting it doesn't wear very well long term, for £100 I'd expect a few winters out of it at least!

They don't last long no matter which one you get. I've had several different branded ones for Minis and MKII golfs and none of them ever lasted more than 2 winters.

£100 can save you money towards rust, leaks etc. Just how effective are they? 100% waterproof? Easy to put on and off? The above is intriguing..

Well it's properly pissing down here tonight, will report back in the morning and confirm it's still dry underneath!

I've used a Monsoon cover on mine since 2008. Put simply, it works a charm.

Interesting, scratchchin Where do you park your car during the day? I live on quite a busy main road, and wonder if having a cover will attract thieves/vandals or drunken behaviour or nosey people to lift it up?

Also, I need parking permits for my street; will traffic wardens lift them up to check the reg? Or will he assume I don't have a permit and issue me a fine anyway? rofl

Halford covers are pretty good in my experience. Keeps the wet out and lets the damp underneath escape. The coupe shaped ones fit perfectly and the elastic round the bottom tucks under and stops wind blowing under it.
