Hi, gf and I just bought our first mx5 and we love it. We bought it as a joint project for a abit of fun. let us know what you think and show us what you have were looking for ideas on where to go with the colour mods and im after abit of power as the engine is standard apart from the decat japspeed exhaust.

First thing I'd do is relocate that number plate, won't be doing your air flow any good!

haha, yes the technicolour dream dash is abit mental, try driving with it! the dash is going to be flocked I think.

yeah we have ordered a square plate and bracket to mount the plate to one side.

im thinking of changing the colour obviously as the red with black bonnet is abit too much. what colours look good on the mx5?

I'm interested to see what others have done.

Red looks good! Just put a Red bonnet back on and it will look tonnes better!

We all know red paint is lighter than black anyway, so the performance gained should be enough motivation.

cheers guys, I can take alot of stick my other car is a volvo 850 t5 estate in dark green lol.

I bought this cos its soo clean not alot to do accept removing and the crap stickers and abit of paint. not sure on the body kit either though but we will see where it ends up by the summer.

Yep, keep us updated on it's progress. I know you've just got it and stuff, but before spending loads of cash on more power, I'd consider getting the front bumper changed to a standard one with a "Garage Vary" front lip and adding some style hoops or a roll bar - looks a lot better with something behind the seats IMO!

ETA: I know this isn't very 'PH' and I'd never consider doing such a thing to my own car as I bought it for the way it handles, but since the OP is obviously into the Stanceworks style it might be worthwhile to draw some inspiration from this one; http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3376472.htm

yeah i saw that car the other day. its abit too stanced for me, its not practicle. looks lovely but not my thing. theres a front lower brace and a H frame brace on this already it handle like a dream.

I'd really like a hard top but i have looked at the roll bars and i have a style in mind which i may chuck some cash at.

Personally I really like it as it is! I like the red body/black bonnet look, it's very JDM racer
I'd get rid of that interior though. Just go back to black. Flocked looks good but just black would be a big improvement.

thanks I'll see how it looks once I polish up the red, it's a bit scruffy now. i like the kanjo civic from fast car the red with the complete black front end.
