Afternoon all, I've just collected my GF's 52 plate Mk2.5 from the MOT. It passed with no advisories so I'm delighted. We got it this time last year so this is the first MOT I've put it through. Is a clean sheet pass to be expected on an MX5 that age or would you say it's bearing up better than average? Mileage is 46k and it does appear to have been well cared for before we got it.

Thanks

My 1993 just required a couple of new tyres on the front, 85k miles. Yours is nearly new, should get through ok.

Ours is almost identical, 2002 Mk2.5 with 48000 miles.

Goes straight through every year, has done since 2006, never had to spend a single penny on it other than normal servicing. It's been absolutely and totally bombproof.

At that sort of age and mileage, you'd be unlucky to have to spend anything at all.

That's good to hear! It was bought to be a reliable daily and fun weekend car that I don't need to give too much attention to. Doing well so far...

I've had mine (1989 with 230,000km) for four and a half years and it just failed for the first time on corroded brake lines, which were an easy fix.

Actually, my other one is a 1989 Eunos, only 60k miles though, which has been with us for ten years.

In all that time, it's had an exhaust, a rear brake caliper, a battery, and a hood. Hardly anything you wouldn't expect from a 22 year old car.

Still goes through MOTs every year with no issues at all. (It is garaged though, and seldom used!).
