Who is running the oldest Eunos/MX5 ?
Discussion
Had mine 7 years now, average of 8,000 miles a year & have had no trouble. I still have no rust appearing yet!! The paintwork however, being red is starting to change colour, the nose cone, bumpers & spoiler are going darker & there is some laquer peel. Budgeting for a respray in the spring.
Think the key to longevity is :
Wash every week, polish & wax once a month
Clean under wheelarches until they are clear of all debris every time you wash car
Check rear drainholes are clear and drainholes in sills
Check underseal condition regularly
Change oil & filter every 6,000 miles
Use regulary but avoid salty roads
Thats what has helped keep mine so nice despite its 23rd birthday coming up....but then again I treat it like its a child!!

Wish I had the patience for all of that. Don't get much time and would rather be out driving it. I guess I should find the time if I want to keep it rust free and on the road. Think the key to longevity is :

Bought a 1989 one yesterday.
In for a respray at the moment. Mechanically great, paintwork tired but bodywork solid.

Are you keeping it silver or going for a change? In for a respray at the moment. Mechanically great, paintwork tired but bodywork solid.

Mine is an 89. It's a great little car and is getting some upgrades for its 23rd birthday. 235,000km and still going strong.
I'm surprised how solid the one i bought was. Felt a bit sorry for it, and i'm always a sucker for stuff like that.No doubt could have bought a better one for the money its taking for the respray, etc.
