I'm looking at buying a '5 soon an I would like to know if the MK1s come with any security features e.g. alarm/immobilisers?

Also what do you guys think of the following car:

That mileage should be ok as long as the service history / cambelt have been taken care of right?

Also will a 97 mx5 bw suitable if I decide to turbo it? I have heard something about OBDII problems.

A 97 will have an immobiliser built into the ECU (mine is a 96/97). You should on start up see a "key" symbol in the dials. This is good in terms of having an immobiliser. I understand it can be bad in terms of:
A)Finding a replacement ECU should yours go pop.
B)Messing about with turbos et al as some simpler systems are configured to work with the earlier ECU without the immobiliser.

C)I could easily be wrong about B. smile

Thank you venerable masters, I bow down to your visual expertise. I was so focused on the sills that I missed that. My search continues!

I wouldn't rule it out due to a resprayed door (if it really is resprayed and not just an odd photo angle). We all go on about finding one with a good sill repair so why worry about a door respray? It would just need a closer look at that side of the car to make sure there is no lingering damage.
