I've always wondered what the black cylinder with a little handle on top that has "Open" and "Close" written on it in the engine bay. It's on the right hand side just in front of the air filter

It's the power steering fluid reservoir is it not? Is it full of pink-ish liquid?

Can you see it on that pic? I can see the washer fluid (top right), brake fluid (top left), engine coolant (bottom left).

Have you opened it if closed, or closed if open to see what happens? smile

I thought it was power steering fluid too, in fact I'm almost certain it is.

More importantly, how have you kept your engine bay that clean? Do you have any tips?!

That's not my engine bay, it's just a photo I found on google image search.

I keep my power steering fluid topped up by paying someone to tinker with the oily bits on my behalf...
