Eunos windows, heater blower and wipers all intermittent

Hello peeps,

I bought an early 1.6 Eunos for my dad a couple of weeks ago; a lovely little car in green with tan leather and Nardi wheel which he is enjoying.

However, it has an intermittent electrical issue; from time to time, the wipers, heater blower and electric windows all stop working together. So far, they've always fixed themselves after a couple of minutes or re-starting the engine but I'd like to sort it properly.

I've poked around the fuse box as fuses for all 3 functions are near each other (coincidence?) but not managed to identify any bad connections yet.

Is this a common issue, or does anyone have any suggestions?

So are other electrical items (radio etc) still working when those items pack up?

I'm no expert, but persoanlly I'd check/clean/reconnect the battery terminals to make sure that it's not just a bad connection there. I had intermittent starting problems once which was eventually traced to a loose battery terminal.

Hello, everything else electrical continues to work perfectly but I will check around the battery; you never know, those items may have been given a separate supply for some strange reason in the past. My dad has bought a Haynes manual from eBay for it now also, so if that has wiring diagrams in it (?) then perhaps I can see where any relevant connectors are. Might need to take the fuse box out but that looked a bit fiddly.

I've got a couple of workshop manuals at home, so if you can't find anything in the Haynes manual, let me know and I'll have a look.

I've had this !! Found if I turn off the ignition everything works again !! Weird sh#t..........

somewhere on www.mx5nutz.com is a proper dealers manual, in PDF format.

Check and clean all the ground connections you can find. Has been known to resolve all sorts of issues. For example, in my 1.8 mk1 there's a block of grounds, with four or five wires going into it, in the back nearside of the engine bay (that's on your right as you stand at the front of the car looking at the engine). The connections were quite badly corroded on mine but cleaned up easily enough.
