Recommended engine oil - preferences?

I have recently bought a Mk1 Eunos 1.8, with just over 100k miles. The car runs very well, but - what engine oil would you recommend?

OpieOils suggested 10w-40 GULF Fully Synth. I'm on the 3rd change of it and my 5's (1.6) running brilliantly.

I've always used Mobil 1 0W-40 full synth. Works wonders for Mk1 HLA noise and Mk2.5 VVT rattle.
