MX5 NB Alarm Problem.

Hello all and this is my first post here so please be gentle!

I was woken up in the wee small hours by a car alarm sounding, looked out of the window to see it was my MX5's alarm...I didn't even know it had one!

Car is a Y reg 2001 Mk 2.5, standard except for a Sony single din stereo c/w 10 disc stacker and a BMW clock/cubby box.

What should I check to try to cure the fault or can the alarm just be disabled as I'm not a great beliver in them anyway and seldom park the car anywhere 'dodgy'

I only discovered mine had an alarm when I flattened the battery and had to remove it to charge it. The alarm would go off whenever I reconnected the battery, so I guess checking the battery terminals would be a first step? Sorry I can't be more help.
