Changing electric window motor

Mine's decided to die in the middle of this mini heat wave, has anyone changed one of these before? I've had the door apart and it looks to be a bit of a nightmare, any help would be really great!

I changed mine the other week. It took me about half an hour. I started to use an mx5 repair / tuning book that I have and in the end just worked it out. Not too bad at all.

If you're ok with a socket set just take your time and you'll be fine.

I'm usually fine with this sort of thing, but I can't work out how to get the thing out without taking the class out too. I bought the haynes manual but frankly it's more useful as a firelighter.

You sure it's definitely the motor, and not the cable snapping? It is more common for the cable to snap than the motor to go.

Are you sure it's not just the switch? Its a pretty common fault. Mine went on the drivers side on my Mk2 but the passenger side worked fine. Got a 2nd hand one off the owners club forum for £20. Swapped it over, Job done.

Definitely the motor, did a quick test with a voltmeter.

It's only a couple of extra bolts to whip the glass out. I had to take mine out as the cable had gone. Only downside was trying to get it lined back up afterwards.

Ended up getting scared of aligning the glass and took it to MX 5 Heaven as it needed an MOT at the same time. It was the switch afterall so I must have been cocking up with the voltmeter.

Great garage though, they even leant me a van to get around in while the car was being done. Thoroughly recommend!
