So, it appears, following from the precious few threads that the noise is coming from the water pump. What's the cost implications likely to be? I'm not one to tackle this!!

for the part? about £30-£40.

to fit it? requires removal of cambelt so normally people replace that too, along with tensioners and pulleys, cam cover needs to come off so new gasket there, and sometimes people replace crankshaft and camshaft oil seals, depending on how thorough you want to be.

so you're probably looking at between £100 for a basic to £230-odd for a full, if you're getting someone to do it.
