How about £500 (assuming you can sell the hardtop)

Have you looked at the goodwoodsportscars.co.uk website. He's in Berwick so not a million miles away from you and quite often has ones that pop up for around that money.
Failing that, ebay is your best bet for sheer quantity of cars, though you may have to sift through the crap to get to the good ones.
funnily enough I just looked on their website, emailed the link to my dad to have a look as it will probably be a joint toy purchase.Failing that, ebay is your best bet for sheer quantity of cars, though you may have to sift through the crap to get to the good ones.

have you actually driven a 88 bhp model ?
I only ask because in my garage is an almost identical mx5, and quite frankly it's quick enough.
is it though? i don't think the vvti 1.8 is quick at all, and thats more than 50hp stronger. On the other hand I have to admit that a 93' 1.6 I've driven once was pretty fun (but not quick). I don't know if I would ever go with the 90hp version... the other engines are just there for the same sum. But depends what you are looking for in a 5 i guess

I suppose it's what you are used to. Power to weight ratio is significantly better than any car I've owned, so I've always felt that B road overtaking was an absolute hoot. But depends what you are looking for in a 5 i guess
The only issue I have with it is that it feels like it could do with 2 more gears, but that's because my daily driver is a diesel accord and Top in the MX5 is about the same revs as 3rd in the accord.
Not sure if its allowed but...

As the ad says its not perfect but then again i'm not asking perfect money for it.
I've promised another guy some shots of the underneath which i'm hoping to get taken this evening.
Mods - Feel free to remove the link if its not allowed.

Well post me the link and i will have a look, I am willing to travel a bit for the right car but not the other end of the country!Mike
In fact if your in the isle of wight dont bother, about as far away as possiblle from me!
Well its about 3 months since i got rid of the vx220 and got the evoque, got a bit bored already so been out and bought another mx5 jointly with my dad. Its a red 1.8 eunos roadster with just under 100k on the clock, body work is rock solid, no rust and in overall good nick apart from a spilt rear screen. Its a 1.8 v limited according to fluxs database though i wasnt aware when we bought it? though i am not sure if such a model even exists?
Its far far better than the 2007 uk car we used to have.
Not got any pics yet as collecting it on sunday.

Got the car now. The wheels need a bit of a refurb and the rear plastic screen is shot but it drives really well. Not a spot of rust either which is the main issue with these cars. Will also look a bit better after a good clean and wax.

AFAIK there isn't a V-Limited, there is a VR-Limited which came in either metallic wine red or metallic BRG.
Looking at this guide http://ox.mx5oc.co.uk/guide_eunos.htm, if it's red it could be an S-Special.
I can't see the pics, does it have a yellow strut brace fitted or yellow bilstein shocks?
