A few questions
Discussion
Evening all
Went and bought myself and mk2 mx5 today, 1.8 sport, 2002 and now have a few questions I am hoping you guys can help answer.
Rust, the rear of the sills have started to go and the arches will soon follow I think, I'm based SW London, any recommendations of a place I can get these sorted ?
The Ariel won't go up, simple fix?
Best bushes as I would like to get them all changed for poly
Coil overs, have been offered a set of new GAZ gold pro with top mounts brand new for a couple of hundred quid
Tyres, it has the 16 in wheels, what's everyone running ?
What engine and diff oil is everyone favouring these days.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to MX5 ownership Krise
2002 cars are commonly called Mk2.5 i.e, face-lifted Mk2. Sport will have some niceties such as 6-speed & LSD.
Gareth, The MX5 Restorer (look him up on OC forum) is near Brighton and is about as good as it gets for rust repairs.
Do the bushes really need changing? Most people who fit poly-bushes usually say that it makes the ride a fair bit worse without really adding much to the driving experience. They are expensive to buy and a PITA to fit too. I'd say, if your current bushes are ok then leave them alone.
GAZ Gold Pro are very good. Your current top-mounts should be fine.
Toyo T1R.
Engine - Mobil 1 0W-40 (about £28 for 5L from Costco)
Gearbox - Redline MT90*
Differential - Redline 75W-90*

- I might have these the wrong way around. I'm sure someone else will be along soon to confirm.

Is it making a grinding noise when it tries to extend the ariel? That happened to mine as it had come off the belt, think it was about £50 to get it replaced. Got mine done by a mechanic, but probably would be DIYable.I'm running ToyoT1Rs on mine, they're 205/45 I think.
