Looks like the owner was an enthusiast, which is usually a good sign!

Surely a typo?

£3.3k.... knock a grand off that and you'd be about right.

Thanks, thats what I thought.

I'd rather pay more for a good car that's been looked after and £3.3 isn't bad for a mk2 (don't like popup lights)

not a chance you could get a 5 that well looked after for 2,300 quid. It might be slightly steep for the age, but I think it would be worth 3 grand as it clearly has been had by an enthusiast, which is worth its weight in gold. I'm not a huge fan of the wheels, but apart from that I would say it would be a solid buy.

Seriously, that's massively overpriced - you should be looking at a Mk2.5 car for that kind of cash!

Its last owner seems to have spent a few quid in wise areas but that says nothing about the rest of the car's 13 year existence. For reference I watched a same age 5 with factory hardtop and 13K less miles fail to sell at £1800 yesterday.

Lovely looking car, although I'm not a fan of those wheels.

Too rich at that money though.

I agree, massively overpriced. The price of Mk2's and 2.5's has been dropping like a stone over the last 9 months as Mk3's are now at £5,000.

Agree with those that are saying it would be worth the money if it really is in as good condition as it looks. If there is any rust/bubbling at all then I'd agree with the others and knock £1k off the price.

Overpriced...hugely. £2k tops IMO.

It all depends on condition. You could buy a £1500 Mk2 and then spend £600 on the sils, £200 on tyres, £300 on the waterpump and Cambelt and £400 on a Mohairhood with glass window if you were after a mint car and sorted car.

Cared for cars like that go for a lot less on mx5nutz/the oc...I don't think the seller is being very realistic versus current market prices for mx5s.

But if someone buys it at that price he'll be laughing all the way to the bank!

There is strong correlation, between valuing your car, and valuing your car.

Not true, you could have had mine that I sold 12 months ago. Totally mint condition 1998 Mk2 1.8iS with K&N Typhoon, Nardi wheel, Torsen LSD, TR Lane Roll Bar, OEM Hard Top and a few other nice bits that went for £2,600. Or there's the mint condition one owner 2005 1.8 Sport 40,000 miles with full leather and OEM Hardtop that I bought for my FiL last year for £4,000. Or there's the good condition 1999 Mk2 1.8i that my BiL sold for £1,800 last year. Crap condition Mk2's have been selling for £1,000 or less this year. I would pay no more than £2,500 ,for a mint condition one, but even then I'd want an iS, which the above car is not.

Why pay £3,300 for a 13 year old car when for £1,700 more you could get a Mk3 which is only 6 years old and done 30,000 less miles.

Mk1's are starting to hold their value though.

When it comes to buying MX5's patience is a virtue. There are so many dogs and overpriced cars out there you just have to be patient and wait for the good ones to come up - they are out there. Or just pay £1,000 more than it's worth and take the hit when you come to sell it. It took my BiL months to sell his Mk2 and he just had to keep dropping the price. I think we all assume there's massive demand for our cars - the reality is there's not.

Don't buy the 1.8 mk3, the 2.0 sport is the one to have.
