Either my googling skills are rubbish or it's never been asked before (unlikely!) - but what pressures are recommended with T1r's (195/50/R15) on a Mk1?

Had my old 14's (crappy mismatched budgets) at 26PSI all round and it suited me very well so have just kept the Toyo's the same, but it just seems to be lacking that same responsiveness I was so used to!

TIA,
Nikos.

26psi is the recommended pressure regardless of tyre size/brand but most people feel Toyos need a touch more. I run mine at 28psi and that feels about right to me.

28 is good for the road for best grip, but you can feel the sidewalks are a touch on the soft side. 28 is not enough on track. 32ish feels better in that situation smile

I'd agree with the above, I find mine too soft at 28 PSI (in fact I've just dropped them to that again and adjusted the suspension to see if it's any better and I still don't like it!) as I could feel the sidewalls flex when I fling it around.
30 on road seemed great, but I haven't used my T1Rs on track so can't comment there.

I ran mine on about 32 cold on the road. On track, I'd drop them to somewhere around 28/29 cold and 32 hot.

By 32psi on the road you are probably losing some grip, especially in the wet. You'll gain a bit of turn-in speed so it might well feel a bit better but don't confuse that with grip. They do have soft-ish sidewalls but they are made to work that way. Better to just get used to the way the tyres work rather than try to turn them into something they aren't.
On track it's a different story of course.

On my drive home last night it was very wet and I wouldn't have said the car felt that different, compared to with the pressures at 32PSI. It certainly didn't seem any less tail happy. driving
