MX5 MK3 having throttle bodies fitted

My 2.0L Cup spec car is having the Jenvey TB's fitted by WGT Middlewich, The kit run on the MX5 GT concept and was developed by JOTA, Omex and Jenvey

Will get some pics and power figures. Plus its not as big job as most my think ?

We have ordered 2 kits from Omex (7 to day 10 until we get them) and as there the 1st bar the GT Concept we are told £1700 per kit with the Omex 710 ecu to piggy back the standard complex Mazda unit therefore no costly re-wire and all the headaches involved with that route.

We are hoping for 20BHP extra and 160 FT/LB in total and to rev to 7600ish with new valve springs. This conversion should it work will transform the ability to tune the MK3 without going down the blown route.

Car 1 spec at present - Racing Beat header and mid pipe, Cosworth cams, uprated rear silencer but before it was converted to a race car it had 60k miles so engine could do with a rebuild

Car 2 spec at present - Uprated rear silencer

Both cars are race cars and have been power run to confirm BHP before conversion

Are they cutting the fire wall?
The duratec seems to good for power hikes.

No need with this kit to cut the fire wall its got 10mm clearance, we are also building a 2.3L car for next season and we had to lower the engine in the bay to make it fit without cutting.

Is the 2.3l new engine a complete one i.e Burton package ?

so you've basically got the GT but without the £30k price-tag? nice!!

it actually seems like a really good price for what you're getting - i'm *really* warming to the mk3's

Hi Rob,

We are just waiting for the Omex 710 ECU and its all go The car is having the conversion done by WGT @ Middlewich Cheshire Pips the chap in charge there, they have everything needed to carry out this work. Also there maybe some further developments to come out of the GT project like affordable High lift cams that work (I have Cosworth Cams fitted at the mo that are expensive to buy and not much good on a N/A car we gained 10 lbs of torque but no bhp and lost 500rpm weird but I guess they work with the charger kit so I am hoping they work with the throttle bodies)

Clive has full control of the MX5 ECU so can we not reprogramme this?
Some of us are already @ the 180bhp mark already.
Would be good to know 'how' loud the TB's are as on other cars it's mental!
We need a 'quiet' backbox solution at present due to removing the catted headers

What costs have you incurred already with the new cams & headwork?
As this is possibly my next step?

UPDATE

Well I have the kit its a great looking piece of art BUT I have bought the JOTA 2.3 engine from there 2011 britcar MX5 and the gearbox so the car is being upgraded for my 2013 britcar racing.

Therefore I have put all my 2012 mods up for sale -
Cosworth cams (2 races)
Racing beat header (2 races)
Racing beat mid pipe (2 races)
Omex/Jota throttle bodies (new)
Omex 710 ecu (new)

Thanks I hope someone fits them soon as there will transform the MX5
