UK cars - LSD's
Discussion
Hi all,
Been looking for a while now... Need something to have a play round a track with so just getting to the point where I need to splash some cash on one.
I'll have loads of questions once I've done the necessary but to start with:
Slip Diff's - '96 1.8 Uk car. Should it have a slip diff?? Are their any models that specifically did/didn't??
Adjustable suspension - Meister R's seem to be the prefered choice of most - are they the best?
Decat - used to have an S1 Elise and a decat pipe made a big difference. Any benefit to doing it on a 5??
Last one - insurance.... Had a quick skim through the threads - who seems to be best quotewise with a mindset that it'll be going on track??
Cheers,

No UK mk1s had an LSD as standard afaik a UK 96 1.8 will most likely be an open diff. Mk2 1.8is onwards had a t2 torsen as standard. You can get em for around 200 and they are quite an easy swap on a 1.8
I believe the decat gives reasonable gains on early 1.6s no reason why they wouldn't be any good on 1.8 but it won't go through an mot on later. Cars
Suspension- I have p5 sportdrive which I like a lot but have heard good things about meiser r.
Try reis for insurance. reasonably competitive good with mods and insurance for 4 trackdays p year was around 50 quid extra if I remember correctly.
