Afternoon everyone.

Going to be a straight forward question.

Can / does mk2 Suspension fit into a mk1? A guy i work with has a mk2 breaker with coilovers so i was going to fit these to my mk1 if they fit?
Cheers

I believe you need to change the topmounts for Mk2 ones as well - Other than that it's alright.

I am prepared to stand corrected, however!

yep, if you take the complete units across it's fine.
you might end up a little higher than you wanted tho, unless they are height adjustable coilovers...

So no new top mounts needed, just straight swap? Ace!

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

Complete units being the shock + springs + Mk2 top mounts.

Understood, thanks guys. £100 for used Gaz coilovers is what he has said, off to mx5 parts to check for top mount prices.

Don't forget with the MK2 topmounts they're in separate components. MK1 mounts are 1 piece, but mk2 mounts also have 2 washers and 2 rubber bushes per corner.

Budget 30-40 for the rubber bits and washers alone.

If it's coming off a breaker he should be able to get the whole lot off the car as a complete unit so there shouldn't be an extra cost for the washers/bushes.

Right so, i went and had a look and it is Gaz gold suspension in pretty good condition. Slight surface rust and the c spanner is missing. They look to be around £10 on ebay so will get one of them.
It also has a style bar but I dont know if they will work in conjunction with a windbreaker? Will i need a stylebar that has a windbreaker incorporated? Might just give it a miss if i do. Prefer a windbreaker over the style bar.
It also has a K&N Typhoon which is definitely getting taken and the seats are like new so will replace the current ones with a torn drivers bolster.
Will be back with before and after photos after the weekend.
Jason.
