MX 5 specialist in Rowlands Gill

I've just bought for HWMBO a 04 1.8iS - so far so good.

I'd like to get the cambelt changed and a service as a matter of course - has anybody had experience of AK Automotive in Rowlands Gill (nr newcastle), as I'd prefer to use a specialist rather than a main dealer.

From what I recall, they have a decent reputation - but if you have a trusted local mechanic, just give it to him, as the MX5 is a simple beast.

AK are pretty well respected. They run a couple of MX5 as racecars so you can be confident that they know the car.

I had a small mechanical issue (sheared wheel hub bolts) whilst at Croft Circuit. One phonecall to AK, and the guys brought replacement parts to fix the car.

While it's true that any good mechanic (or the driver) can service the car, it's handy to have the car inspected by someone with specialist knowledge. If you go see them talk to them about the geometry - set that right and you'll enjoy the car ever more.

I'm biased as I use Anthony and Dan at AK Automotive a lot for work on my sales cars but... they are first class and know their MX5s inside out. You'd be mad to use a regular garage if you can get your car to AK Automotive. Highly recommended.

Another thumbs up from me, the lads there fitted my turbo bits, intercooler and the like.
Top service and very reasonable too.
Wouldn't use anyone else even though they are about 40 miles from me!

Thumbs up from me too. Very friendly, great prices, honest blokes. Also come on the runs with mx5nutz which are a great laugh, as good as the PH runs to me. Got a good MX5 racing car too. Highly recommended.
