Hi all,

New member here and proud new owner of a 1990 Mazda MX5 (Eunos). I've had the car a couple of weeks now and it's suffering with clutch slip, I thought I might get away with this for a while but it's really starting to bug me. My question is, just how hard is it to change a clutch on an NA using some basic DIY skills? I've never attempted a clutch change before so could be way off the mark but surely with the right tools and a little common sense I should be able to change the clutch myself? I have access to an original Mazda workshop manual on CD so I've got an idea of what I need to do the job and a process to follow so just wondering if anyone else has managed it and would you try it again?

I've only ever done simple bolt on bolt off jobs on my other cars but I'm not one to rush a job and will happily read up on how to do a job so in my head this really is achievable.

Thanks

Typhoons

It's not hard, but if you only have axle stands working on your back and getting sone this to support the box is a pain.

Thanks for the link! Very useful, I've had a skim read through (stuck at work) and printed it off to read through later. Might have to speak to my father in law and see if he fancies getting his hands dirty with me for a few beer tokens. I'm sure with two of us working on it we'll manage to get it done.

At least now I know it can be done at home, just need to decide whether I feel up for the task.
