INSURANCE HELL!!!
Discussion
Hey guys,
I have been interested in mx5's since I first played gran turismo on the play station as a kid.
In January I will acrue my first years NCB and am hoping to get an MX5 and modify it a little (no flaming please )
Question is, with the modifications, can anyone suggest which insurance company could be the best?
Thanks
Jack

Thanks for the reply Chris.
I am 18 and when my first years NCB comes into affect I will be 19.
I am a big fan of the "stance" scene and know MX5's look beautiful having been lowered and given a nice set of steelies.
Just dont want it to burn a massive hole in my pocket
Don't say that on here for godsake most people on here deteste the stance scene and will flame you even more for doing it to a mx5. But what ever you like go for it it's your car after all.I am 18 and when my first years NCB comes into affect I will be 19.

Sorry chris, each to their own. I'm not a flash little boy racer. I cherish the car with all its character as standard. But do like a lowering.
Trying to convince my Dad to get the new shape mx5 as we are selling the family car.
I don't mind it personaly aslong as it's not stupidly low and camber that makes a racing car looks tame then it 's ok in my eyes i wouldn't do it to my mx5 but im not against anyone doing it to theres but don't go around here saying that as most don't like it like in this threadTrying to convince my Dad to get the new shape mx5 as we are selling the family car.

Thanks for the heads up. The reason I joined this thread was not to talk about stancing at all. But was to try and learn from experience mx5 guys about the car, what may go wrong and how amazing a car it can be.
Tyres, I dont mind a big of sarcasm so I'll give you that.

Have you seen mx5nutz
From my small experience of owning 2 mx5 (the first one being butchered for a kit car) is mainly rust, rear arches to sill, front wings where it meets the bumper are usual rust spots and then the underneath on various places. The engine is pretty much bullet proof very few problems with them suspension bushes do wear but on a 15+ year old car you would expect that.
Just get the best you can and avoid any rusty ones there are plenty around it's a buyers market expecially coming into winter. I would have said you could have looked at mine but im in south wales so a bit far away from you.

Appreciate the offer chris but it a tad to far away. As I am only18 years old, I am looking to learn about cars - from what to look out for, but also how to repair my mistakes I'm surrounded by petrol heads in my life including my girlfriends dad who currently races in the tuscan challenge.
Seems like an amazing culture and I have always been interested. This will be my 2nd car and I want it to be one to remember.
I've also hear the brakes can be a bit hit and miss aswell with the late 90's models too?
