MX5 OC National Rally. How many of you were there?
It was a great day - I hadn't planned to go at all but I was talked into it by Autolink & Mazdamenders.net and I'm glad I was as I had a great day. The hill climb is short but fairly technical and good fun for the short time it lasts. I must admit though, I was trying to make as much noise as possible (to put on a show) rather than actually get up the hill fast biggrin

I was there, in fact I even saw you.

Here's one of my runs up the hill - http://youtu.be/MuCTSuLIeFA

Yep! My favourite part of the day is a toss-up between the sounds of the V8 MX-5 tearing up the hill and the GT induction noise, of which I got a video.

I saw a few MX5s in convoy going the other way between Chipping Norton and Brackley as I was heading to SS with a GT86 trying to keep up. Gave them a wave.

Nice vid!
Did we talk? I talked to a lot of people but I'm useless with faces and worse with names.

There is a video of one of my runs but it's on a friends phone so I'll have to wait for him to download & send it to me before I can post it.

I'm not sure how people went into the gravel trap at the hairpin. It's a dodgy corner but I was in more risk of over-steering into the barrier after the corner than going anywhere near the gravel. And that last corner was a bit daunting with it's drop-off on the left down a grass bank to trees!

I didn't look at any of the car competitions. Concourse and similar events leave me cold. I can't see the point of them. (I am a miserable git though hehe).

I was there. Went into the gravel on the hairpin. Misjudged my entry speed and realised I wasn't going to make it almost as soon as I turned the wheel.

Were you the 1st one of the day? i.e. the one that went straight in and beached itself without touching the barrier (in which case, I have pictures wink)? Or were you the one a bit later in the morning who grazed the barrier on the way into the gravel (in which case you were right in front of me and I had to abort my run laugh)? or A-N-Other which I didn't see ?

Maybe very briefly, we were told to shift my '5 by the marshalls (after being told to park there for the afternoon run, ah well). Didn't really get how the run system worked in the end, we were on the reserve and waited, then it seemed like a bit of a free for all (not complaining, got three runs in before the clutch got hot!).

Great day all round though, would like to go to this again if it happens.

Cracking day
So many different MX5s having fun trying to do the same thing - have fun on the climb and/or watching it

I restricted by rubber burning to the start
She's my only motor so was not going to do anything that would put her in the kitty litter or barriers... or no barriers as one chap ran over the top at the top
Looked like he got back on track okay, thankfully

I was there, great day although I had to leave at 2.30. I don't think I would have gone if I didn't have the free pass.

Enjoyed my runs which I did not expect to be doing at all, thanks to the very kind marshalls. I use a wheelchair and one of the marshalls asked if I fancied a run up the hill, he must've assumed I didn't drive, I had no hesitation replying I wouldn't mind doing it in my own! I was unsure as I knew it was fully booked (I understand some others had paid on the day) but they insisted on taking me over to sign up.

Slightly ashamed to admit I didn't notice any PH logos until I looked at the pictures. I don't suppose anyone got a shot of or clip with my car? copper red NC2, PH logo on the seat hoop

Prescott was our first run with the new track car and I can therefore now confirm that it goes like stink!

My mate took his Le Mans up the hill and very nearly lost it on his first run so his second was a bit more leisurely - not that it felt like that to me from the passenger seat.

One of our mates drew a nice number 11 in the tarmac on his way into the gravel - without hitting the barrier I'm glad to say. I think the final score was three into the gravel, one off down the grassy knoll at the top.

Some of our friends took videos so I shall try to persuade them to post them on YouTube if I can.

(Nicked from MX5OC.co.uk)

Ooops, I very nearly did the same trick on the second run, I've seen the video and I got it squealing to avoid the wall!

Great day out biggrin

A vid I've seen off one of the OC forums. I'm on at 5.34 smile

carmadgaz - the black car with pink stripes is someone else's car.

I was in '08 plate silver Mk3. I wasn't the first of the day - that happened while I was at the briefing. I didn't think I'd scraped, but I found some marks on my bumper today. Managed to drive out - have never had to be towed off track yet.

What does your car look like?

I think it was my mate Johnny in his white Mk 1 who christened the barrier, fairly early in the morning. He said his next run was a lot slower. Wimp. I just launched a full-on attack, every time!

Ahh right, I remember a silver one just catching the top barrier but haven't seen a pic of that...

Mines the green MK2.5 in my shot above with the 3 PH smiley on.

Lazza, that's a smart car there, the patchwork one looks more up my street though (can you imagine the witness statements if that has a bump?;))

Here's another picture (stolen from OC forum) on the track:
