Rubbing roof MK1

I noticed these marks the other day, at first I thought some scrote had been at it with a lit cigarette or something similar...



But it's where it rubs when the roof is down...




Is this a common problem on all mk1s? I can stop it happening by tucking it under after putting the roof down but it's a bit of a pain as I like throwing the roof down and off to go.

It won't be a common problem on Mk1s as Mk1s were never fitted with a fabric roof from the factory

I forgot about thus thread, so is it a problem on mk2s, which I guess my roof is off?

Mine is vinyl so I can't help much but looking at the stitching I'd say yours is probably aftermarket rather than a Mazda hood. I could be wrong though.
