Hi All

I was just out on a hoon earlier and looked down to notice my water temp gauge needle acting strangely. It was wildly moving around from midway to cold (left). It settles for a bit and then starts going again. It doesn't look like its acting in relation to heat builup/throttle abuse - if i am cruising steadily it will occasionally move a bit and go back to centre.

Whats going on there then? Temp sensor somewhere on the way out?

historically its been fine - solid as a rock smile

Cheers

The oil pressure sensor on my mk1 did that once, really strange, it was flicking around from 0 to normal while I was cruising at a constant 4k rpm. The next time I drove it and until I sold it the needle stayed where I expected. Strange.

Shes been in the garage since saturday so i'll see if it occurs again later this week.

I am hoping its just a sensor that's not grounded properly or something basic like that.

Vacuum / air locks in the cooling system? Has it had a coolant change recently?

Funny thing is nothing new has been introduced! Coolant was changed about a year ago and I've done plenty of miles without issue. It's just started now. Random smile
