Hi all, have just bought a new Mk3 RC and was loving it - up until tonight....

I have bought a Parrot bluetooth unit and thought I'd save myself some cash and fit it myself. So, before installing the headunit, I studiously read the MX5 manual (or like a typical man, what I thought I needed to read) which told me that I would need to insert a code if I unplugged teh battery. Therefore, I carefully followed the instructions and inserted my new code in to the stereo before disconnecting the car battery.

What I did not read (because it's cunningly well hidden at the end of the blooming instruction book and also I'm a man who doesn't like to read all the way through to the end!) is that you need to cancel the old code first before inserting your new code - and if you don't do that, the old code remains valid.

So, Parrot all installed and I re-connect the car battery and merrily insert the new code I inputted less than 2 hours ago - and I do this (stupidly) 3 times in a row, determined that I am correct and my new code is correct.

Well, now the unit is flashing ERR and upon reading the small print in the manual further, it seems that I have fracked my headunit and it needs to be replaced.

Firstly, Mazda, why don't you write this warning in big caps at the start of the instructions, rather than tucking it away at the end, where no one reads it? Perhaps so your dealers can charge a fortune to reset???

I have done some googling and there are lots of conflicting suggestions of various Mazda codes and procedures of how to reset it - but non I can find specifically for the Mk3. Also, the PH search function isn't working. I don't want to do the wrong procedure and completely knacker my headunit, so thought I would ask the PH wizards for their advice!

So, does anyone know the correct procedure for resetting the ERR code on the headunit on a Mk3? It is the non-BOSE unit if this makes any difference.

Otherwise, should I just try all of the codes/methods I can find on the internet - and there are hundreds. Or is it a case of going to the dealer?

All help really gratefully appreciated, thank you.
