Hi there,

I'm due to collect my very first Roadster/MX-5 on Friday and can't wait! It's a cherished 03 Mazda MX-5 1.8VVT Sport with a sweet 6 Speed gearbox, full-leather and only 25k on the clock (!), but it has a built-in Sat Nav console unit too, which, to be honest, I haven't been able to find the 'aux' connection for?!

The unit looks like this (image pinched from google):

Does anyone have any experience with this unit? Where is the 3.5 socket located in the car? I couldn't see it for the life of me!

Anyway, just thought I'd say hello. Any help much appreciated smile

As far as I recall, its in the back of the unit, you need to pop the headunit out and run a cable up behind the dash. Works well with an ipod in the centre console hidden from view.

Oh and Hi wavey

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. Stupid question but......how can the iPod fit in the centre console if there's no space for it? :-S I'm guessing the Sat Nav would have to stay in the 'screen up' (open - with CD drive visible) position all the time then?

I'm probably just being daft.

Thanks.

What I did in my mk1 (when I fitted an Alpine head unit with rear iPod connection) was remove the trim on the transmission tunnel and ran the iPod lead under that and into the armrest cubby via the flap for the fuel filler. With the head unit and centre console trim out it is really easy to do. I could have routed the iPod lead to the glove box, but thought it was easier to use from the armrest cubby.
