Hey guys,

I have two holes measuring approx 5mm X 1mm on my roof. No idea how they got there.

The roof is a sort of plastic material. Is there any way of repair? If it needs to be done by a specialist then I am on the South Coast in Southampton.

Many thanks,

Matt

Can't help of where to take it however I fixed a hole in my rear window by using a repair kit from a paddling pool. Self adhesive vinyl patch cut to size.

If you are stuck you could do similar? A product called stormsure might help with this also to seal the patch externally?

Sorry I can't give any better advice!

You can buy DIY patch kits for vinyl roofs. Halford(ugh!) used to do one but I'm sure motor factors and ebay will have some.

I have just repaired my MX5 roof , with a huge L-shaped tear in it. You need to buy this kit:

http://www.glasspolishshop.com/%20Deluxe%20Heat%20...

Could not believe how well it has worked. You get a strip of canvas to place under the tear section, gaffa that in place. I also supported the roof with a cushion underneath while applying the heat Use plenty of heat, if it does not cure just retry. Amazing how good the repair actually is, even with the grain !

I did not use any of the colour adjustment, just used the black filler and that works well. Follow the instructions carefully, the repair will bend OK.

Thanks for the replies guys smile The roof is wearing holes from the inside out I think. There are sings of abrasion on both sides of the car, near one of the metal frame structure of the roof.

Has anyone else had these issues? I'll upload pictures sometime to show what I am talking about.

Many thanks,

Matt

im currently in exactly the same situation small thin holes wearing through from the inside out.

I went to the national kit car show today looking to find some cool bits to get it fixed but all the stalls just told me to use some contact adhesive and an off cut.
