Mk3 new stereo - steering wheel controls
Discussion
I'm getting the kit below (see link) and was wondering how simple/difficult the wiring is for the steering wheel controls to fit? Or indeed if there are any websites or videos online that tell you how to fit them?

They're pretty much straight forward. I've fitted the same kit (I think!) to the missus' mk3, and similar kit to my mk3.5. Once you disconnect the big plug from the back of the factory head unit, that plugs into the large brown plug. The brown/black are the ISO pair that go into the loom that comes with your new head unit. The final bit, which is the steering control bit, is the little black box shown off to the left of the picture in your link. You'll have ordered a lead with it for the manufacture of head unit you've got/bought. That plugs into the other side of the black box and connects up to your new stereo in the back for remote control functionality.
It's pretty much plug and play so should be really straight forward. If you have any problems when you come to fit it, post up on here, I'm sure we'll be able to help you get it wired

If you've not seen it already, there's a good thread on replacing the head unit here.
One thing I did have to do was swap one of the pins in one of the looms because it didn't have a pin for the remote control connection. The neighbouring pin for a powered antenna was easily swapped by releasing it with a small screwdriver to release it, and then slot it in the neighbouring hole in the ISO block. That was when connecting to a Kenwood loom.
Pinout information is available here which you can marry up to the loom wiring for your new head unit which will be in your installation guide.
