How much power?

I recently bought an import mx5 2.5 sport and have noted that it has the higher rev limit of 7500rpm and have also read it has 160 hp. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Wiki says 152bhp for the VVT engine.

I thought the higher rev limit and extra power was the RS version rather than the "normal" S-VT. There are a few who will be along soon to give chapter and verse.

All Mk2.5 1.8 have the 148bhp vvt engine. I think the 160 is ps, not bhp.

the 160 is ps not bhp but it = 158bhp (not 148)

and all import mk2.5 have this power

When Mk2.5 was launched they said they would produce 160ps but they didn't. It was suggested that JDM cars only would but I'm not sure they really did either. UK cars are definitely 148bhp. I'd be happy to be proved wrong on the JDM cars.

my mk2.5 RS is noticeably quicker than any standard mk2 ive driven.

the knowledeagble bods over on nutz all seem to agree that the mk2.5 imports have 160ps, as do dandycars and other places.

Mk2.5 RS is different and is supposed to have a bit more power. Same as Mk1 RS (but not Mk2 for some reason).
