MX5 Steel Roof Leak.

Hi There.
My daughters 08 Niseko 2 litre with electric steel roof has started leaking
just above the drivers side sun visor. No apparent damage or deterioration to rubber seals, and appear to bed correctly when roof is closed.
Anyone had any experience of this on steel-roofed models?

First I've heard of it online I have to say - roof is plastic btw. Has she taken it in to Mazda?

Thanks, should have realised it was plastic. Yes Mazda dealership will be next if no suggestions on here.

As a temporary measure you might try a bit of petroleum jelly wiped on the seals. Certainly helps door to window seals on the old vinyl roofs.

don't use petroleum jelly, it will corrode the rubber.

Can't deny the possibility but I've been doing it occasionally for 10 years and the rubber looks the same as it did and my shoulder stays dry.

Thanks guys. Will probably risk the vasoline for now as car due a dealer service shortly, and see what they come up with.

Don't use vaseline. I've used this on mine before - the roof cover was sticking - wiping this over the seals cured it.

Thanks for that. Got a tin yesterday and sprayed the suspect areas. Didn't stop ingress of water though. Maybe I should have let it dry off before closing roof?
