Funny noise from Mk1 Euno

Dear All,

Cleaned my engine bay today (see my other thread) which came out well but when running the engine with the bonnet up I noticed the engine seemed to be making an unusual noise. It has done this for a while but was much squeakier. Here is a video but the mic on the camera seems not to have picked up the screechines of it. The noise seems to be concentrated at the front passenger side.

It could be your belts. Put some WD40 on the two belts/pulleys - if the noise goes away - they need tightening/replacing!

If it's a high pitched squeal, it's almost definitely belts - need tightening or replacing if they look a bit worn.

I had a similar noise after a month of having my car. A sort of knocking squeak that was progressive with the throttle..

Despite being told by the previous owner that the cambelt was changed only three months before, I changed it along with the water pump and no more noise...
