I recently bought a 2002 1.8 Sport MX5 with a factory fitted AV-Navi sat nav unit. I'm finding it hard to find any information on it, it also came with a Road Explorer GB2.0 disc with a Clarion logo. So I presume the unit is a Clarion, can anyone provide me with any more info on it? Also what roughly is the unit and disc worth? I'd rather replace it with a more modern Ipod compatible unit and keep using a tom tom.

Does it have a CD Changer?

The user manual is branded Mazda. It doesnt have a changer but it has a single CD and casette unit behind the screen.

You lucky so and so.

The built in sat nav was ridiculously priced, so pretty much nobody went for it.

Upgrade was something like £2000 or £2500 (yikes).

I've only ever seen one of these before, so it's hardly going to be 'common'!

Very sought after though, swap you? wink

It's actually quite a nice unit. We looked at a car that had it, unfortunately, the rest of the car wasn't up to much!

As to what it's worth, really hard to say.

It wasn't a popular option new (too expensive), so you don't see them come up for sale second hand. Bear in mind it's now an 8 year old navigation system, and the technology and user interfaces have come on quite a long way since then.

I would love one for mine, just to have the big screen on the dash, but I wouldn't be prepared to pay much for it, it's just too old technology.

Given it's such an odd item, your best bet would be to let ebay decide the price!

That's my thinking too I guess, I can see why it coulod be worth a fair amount due to its rarity but there are much better options out there today.

Absolutely, if you can find the right person, you could get a good amount for it.

I replaced a double din stereo in my Landcruiser with a big 7" screen / ipod / dvd / tv / sat nav / reverse camera, etc. unit, cost about £250, so they're really not expensive to buy new any more.

In saying that, if you do decide to ebay it, make sure you put a linky on here, I'll be having a bid myself. wink

I will do. I'll probably put a reserve on it, I just need to decide what price I need to justify selling it.

Which unit did you buy for your Landcruiser Maser_spyder?

I bought a cheapy one from a company in Hong Kong that I did some business with a few years ago.

It's not great quality, but has all the features I wanted. I do a lot of towing with the landcruiser, so have the camera mounted just above the tow ball so you can see to hitch up without any help, very handy.

For a '5, I would invest a bit more....

Does anyone know what keys are needed to remove the factory sat nav unit? I have a set of the keys shown here, http://www.fitaudio.com/?View=entry&EntryID=14... which are meant to be for a 2002 MX5 but they wont fit this unit.

I still have it and it will be for sale if I can ever take it out.

Not sure yet how much to ask so it will probably end up on ebay with a reserve. Feel free to make an offer though.

It looks like standard flat type removal pins?

Something like this maybe?
