Hi guys. Ive noticed a horrid scraping noise from my p/s rear brake. id bought some new pads and discs, but when i came to change them the discs were really worn down on the one side, and seems as if the pads are rubbing constantly.
Can these be adjusted or is it the case that the caliper has seized? Any ideas? Im a bit of a novice but have some experience and am learning as i go so want to do it myself.
Cheers in advance for the help!

How much do you know about the rear brakes?.. do you know about the handbrake adjuster screw hidden behind one of the nuts on the back of the caliper? - this should be used to wind off the piston.

When i had brake-binding issues with mine i loosened off the screw which backed-off the piston.. after doing this the sliders were OK... although i found the actual handbrake lever was sticking and a bit of a wiggle would free it off, so i got away with just a good cleanup and grease of my rear calipers.

Its a case of checking the various parts which will narrow down where the issue is.

Seizing rear caliper pistons is a common fault so it could be that; you can check how badly binding it is by (carefully!) checking the heat from the disc after a run = compare both sides and if one of them is HOT then you def' have an issue.

On the other hand the pads may just be loose - do they have the W springs in-place top and bottom of the pads or not, as these are designed to pull the pads away from the discs when the brakes are off, to stop them rubbing and making a noise.

Also, get Rod's book/the bible smile
