My speedo on my mk1 seems to stick quite badly particularly at about 60mph. Up to 30 it agrees with the GPS but after that it under reads. At an indicated 70 the GPS says 85. This is not a major problem for me but if anyone was driving it could be a problem.

Anyone else encountered this.

is this possibly a bad km/h - mph conversion issue? i seem to remember something that could be adjusted/calibrated being mentioned? but the drive, certainly on mine is mechanical on the box, so i assumed they just changed the dial faces

what size tyres/wheels are you running?

185/65 r14 is almost identical in diameter to 195/55 r15

obviously anything bigger will make the speedo under read

i've noticed gps's aren't that great for logging constant speed until you're travelling in a straight line, no long curves on the m/way etc.

If your car has a replacement dial face it could be that the needle has been pushed on too far or the dial face isn't flat (or both) so the needle is fouling.

On a similar note I have noticed in the hot weather my speedo needle can waggle a little bit as it goes up and down, anyone had this? You can only just see it at the moment but I don't want it to develop as it's the sort of thig that would just annoy me!
