Stiff throttle cable

Not sticky, just stiff
Out of curiosity, is this normal on an import or anything? Someone at work has just bought a J reg 1.6 import and I took it out for a blast to see how it feels. Feels fine (I'd forgotten what naturally aspirated 1.6s felt like
) , but the only thing I wondered about was that the throttle was quite stiff, certainly in comparison with mine which is light as a feather.
Feature? If not, easy fix?
