My backbox on my new MX is blowing (probably due to the fact it did <3K miles last year and i did 250 very hard miles last Sunday biggrin)

What is everyone running on theirs?

It is a Mk2.5 Montana 1.8

Is the MX5 parts stainless the best vfm? What does it sound like - any decent burble?

Not looking for max power sounds but something decent would be great!

Cheers,
Steven

i had a mx5 parts dual exit on my old mk1, the build quality looked good on the face of it but the noise it made was terrible, in fact i was embarressed to drive it anywhere! my advice would be spend a bit more and get a decent system

x2.

I've just fitted a singe exit MX5 parts system and it's far too loud.

Bit embarrassing really.

I'd be interested to see what people suggest, I'm thinking about swapping mine frown

My standard backbox is getting a bit rattly also

Is there such a system that has a smooth nice purr at idle and when driving normally - but gets a nice rasp on when you give it some, without sounding 'rude'? - a mild noise/performance upgrade if one exists?

Larini.

Mine purrs quietly while cruising but when you open her up it barks a nasty (good)rasp. The perfect combination in my opinion.

Mine is this one: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/product...

Going to slap one of those silencer/de-cat things on and see if it's any better.

Might end up selling if you're interested Batters?

The ILM exhausts are very good - available from MX5 Parts.

NO!

Just ordered a silenced de-cat. Will bang that on this week and see if there is any improvement.

If not i guess I'll want about 200 for the de-cat and system.

thats what i was led to believe but i found the more miles i did the more it sounded like the baffles were rattling apart inside the rear box, not a nice noise. if your 17 then you'll like the noise, if your not you won't!

cr@p!

I am currently watching a single exit MX5 Parts backbox on ebay as well.

Might have to go custom...

Cr@p indeed.

I was waiting for the single exit to go on offer again mad I had heard elsewhere that they're not that loud. Aren't the steel standard ones really expensive?

I just want a cheap exhaust that's not going to sound offensive.

Go and listen to one. It might sound loud to some but fine to you.
I know my car is MUCH louder than any 5 with an MX5 Parts exhaust so I'm sure it wouldn't bother me at all.

hi

does a decat bypass make any difference to the sound on a standard exhaust, an will a 1992 k-reg 99 import pass an mot?

cheers
