My Eunos sills...
Discussion
you think youve got problems, look at this guy on the retro rides forum who is currently attempting tackling horrendous sills on his eunos!

Might give ya some ideas as to how to go about it.

k that!
Rust has a depressing effect on me. If I'd cut my sills open to find that, I think it might have tipped me over the edge!

Oh God. I'm getting worried about what may in store for my new car when I finally take delivery...it's just passed an MOT so it can't be that bad, can it? (It's a 1991 Eunos).
The trouble is by the time the rust breaks through the surface it's already very well established within the sill. Cars can go through the mot with serious rust issues about to break out. I'm sure yours is fine though...

Looks no worse than this one that had an amazingly good job done on it
Beautiful job you did there. Huge amount of effort but you def got results.
Going to get some nice thick metal from the scrapyard tomorrow. Volvo bootlid should do the trick.

Ouch!
I too have just been stung by the sills issue.. my car is currently being dismantled to have a full new sill welded in on the drivers side as it seems to have had a blocked drainhole at some point in its past and it disintergrated from the inside out.
Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with this car for a LOOONG time after this... paying best part of 700quid to weld a car that cost me 1200 doesnt make sense... although ive become quite emotionally attached to the car so couldnt just scrap it

Where does the water get in that does this? Other than weight, is there any issue with pumping them full of Waxoil?
Prevention is the best cure and all that.
Theres drain-holes behind the seats, where the water that runs off the back of the roof drops down and supposidly out of the car, however the holes can get blocked meaning the sills fill up with water and they rot from teh insidePrevention is the best cure and all that.

RE the sills - if you read my rustproofing thread Its explained in there how you can see into the sills for inspection.
Although if the sills look like Neils, I'd be worried about what your gonna find!
I did have pictures from when i did the job, but my computer went down unfortunately.
I'll try get round to taking some next time the car is jacked up.
