1) Can a tech numpty complete a 'flash to pass' conversion?

2) How do I know if my car has lowered suspension?

3) How do I know what other mods are on the car- have told insurance co about what I can see- but how do I know about other stuff that I may not be able to see and have no receipts for

4) Does anyone know roughly how much a central locking and alarm system would be

Most important one which I missed off!
5) Roof has some extra stitching on, I unzipped window yesterday just to make sure zip was working OK, didn't realise how tight it was and when rezipping back up- roof fully on, some of the interior extra stitching came apart,
now I know that is not overly secure I am worried about unzipping the plastic window- however in the last MX5 I had the plastic window had split within months of me getting it by opening roof without unzipping window
Which is the lesser of two evils? Unzip or not not unzip before lowering roof?

Thanks

1) Yes.

2) How low is it?

3) What you don't know about you can't admit to. It's not really much of a problem as in an insurance claim you won't be claiming for it if you don't know you have it.

4) Not me.

5) Were you zipping/unzipping with the catches done up? ALWAYS unclip the roof to take the tension off it first.

Central locking kit, no alarm, from MX5 parts £62.64. Seems pretty reasonable, I imagine they would be reasonably fiddly to fit.

Thank you Lazza and tuttle

Always very knowledgable smile
I will measure how high it is off ground later- not got it with me today

Hood, I used to have one years ago, the back window was split and I managed to get a glass window off someone on the OC forum, so forget the proceedures for zipping and unzipping, so I will just make sure I unhook and loosen before I unzip biggrin

Looking at the photos of your 5, I would think the suspension as at standard height. Whether the kit it's sitting on is standard or not is anyones guess

I don't want it to be lower hehe
I have already declared about 7 'mods' to Flux and do not want to be phoning them up again in case they charge me an admin fee

Does this mean one can swap the plastic window part of the hood for a glass one, or do you have to get a new hood altogether?

I bought it from another MX5 owner from the owners club, I am not sure where he got it from.

It was fiddly, from memory we had to take part of the roof out of it's holdings and undo some rivets to release the window panel- included all of the vinyl around the window, we then had to put it all back, except we did not replace the rivets- didn't leak though

(whilst it was all out I cleaned the drains around the car though- I always wondered where the rain ended up)

Pictures when your ready! hehe

What is the flash to pass? I assume it's only on MK1s?

biggrin
Early Mk1's, the later ones have the flashing option

Before today, with lights in off position, when I pulled my stalk towards me as if to flash, the light housing stays down
Now, I pull the stalk, the lights pop up on, and then go back down again all in about 4 seconds.
