*Sigh* Suspension *Sigh*
Discussion
Its shot, buggered, fooked, knackered, saggy, old and needs replacing.
MK1 - spirited road use only, no track use planned.
Can't really afford / justify a £500 Gaz setup, and despite the decent reviews the £120 ebay sets are getting over on Nutz i'm not entirely convinced by them.
Don't want to go stupidly low, don't want to look like i'm on stilts.
Suggestions please? and a rough idea of cost if you could.
Oh - and i'm not adverse to second hand.....
Cheers
Dan

MX5parts list a non-height-adjustable Gaz setup for £400ish. I was wondering whether that would be a worthwhile saving over the height adjustable version, since I don't want to slam mine. I don't trust the eBay specials at all, either. Low price = low expectations so it's not surprising they get good reviews.
The ebay coilovers from Rokkor seem to get good reviews for non track use and they're £158 delivered from Belgium.
I'm debating on buying a set soon as my suspension is shot to f
k too, but I live in speed bump central and I dont wanna be decking out every 30 seconds (f

I don't hugely mind shipping them but it won't be cheap. If Dan doesn't want them we can talk!
Miniman - thats a hugely generous offer!Only problem is i'm abaout as far away as Jag-d is!
Afraid it would have to be a postage jobby - and understand if thats too much trouble.
How high is the ride on standard mk1's?
I am one of the daring (read: cheap) folks who purchased the Rokkor set-up from eBay. I've not put many miles on it due to the clutch giving way once I'd had my turbo set-up but initial impressions are favourable.
Basically I had a leaky shock and when I bought the car it was 'slammed' albeit on good quality springs. With the cost of getting the turbo set-up properly (including an intercooler and some other trick bits) the budget was looking a bit low for splashing out on supension. So I read the reviews and for the price I figured it was worth a punt.
The turn-in isn't as sharp as it was but then the car is sitting a good inch or so higher than it was before so that's to be expected and the ride isn't overally crashy (the missus noticed an improvement straight away and you can't get a bigger endorsement than that!!).
Perhaps in retrospect I'll realise that 'cheaping out' on the suspension wasn't a great idea but that'll be in six months or so when the cost of the other bits as hopefully been forgotten and it certainly rides better than 110k old stock supension and Eibachs.
So in short, if your suspension is knackered then it'll be a decent stop-gap and perhaps actually surprise you at the quality:££ ratio.
Buy them from the link posted earlier as the 'normal' eBay price is £148 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coilover-Suspension-Kit-MAZDA-MX5-NA-/160438130841?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item255adb9899) Unfortunately some severly reticent nuts meant I paid to have mine professionally fitted but if you can do it yourself there's very little to lose IMVHO.

Out of interest Aaron how much did you pay to have them fitted if you don't mind me asking?
I like to try and do a few things myself but i've read through the guide for this and its not somethign I fancy to be honest.
I'd probably have a crack at doing them between me and a mate, but since I bought the 5 I'm more willing to do this sort of sI like to try and do a few things myself but i've read through the guide for this and its not somethign I fancy to be honest.

If you're not changing the springs, its a fairly straightforward job. I like to try and do a few things myself but i've read through the guide for this and its not somethign I fancy to be honest.
Ive just gone for the koni str.t kit from MX5 parts as I didnt want to pay extra for all the adjustable ride / damping that the higher price kits provide. I wasnt willing to chance the £200 ebay jobbies and I'll never use all the adjustments so why pay more ??
getting fitted this weekend so will report back on the ride / handling.
