hi,
have done lots of searching on here and other forums regarding this, and i know the usual "too expensive for the gains you get" answers, but does anyone have some links to any actual real life NA tuned mx5s? say 170bhp-ish?

the reason for not going FI is due to the engine and gearbox not being in an mx5!

and on that bombshell... does anyone have any links or comments about mounting an mx5 1.8 in something other than an mx5?

and any specifics on how high you can get the compression ratio without changing pistons? head skim, or maybe thin steel head gasket?

last, but not least, for info only what is the diff ratio on a 1.6 and 1.8?

thanks in advance

It's not even remotely a stock engine though. That engine will have cost massively more than even a very top SC or TC system.

Don't quote me on this but I believe they later modified this kit to accept the 1.8 engine.

A guy near me is planning to fit MX5 running gear (engine/gearbox & dif and suspension if he can find a way to do it) into a Chevette thumbup

I beleive Swindon Race Engines built that one - as said at great expense.

Theres a bloke on the NZ MX5 forum with a car called a TG Sports (IIRC - classic replica thing) which is MX5 powered, he's running something along the lines of a 1.8 with a Mk2.5 head and high compression pistons. I'll see if I can dig out the spec.

im trying to decide on the spec for my engine rebuild, to go in my westfield. Will be interetsed to see what power i can get from it without forced induction without spending silly money on it!

wondering how high you can get the compression with a head skim and/or a thin gasket?
